California Continued marks the largest renovation to the museum since it’s opening. The project consists of two gallery spaces, an ethnobotanical garden, and an immersive media experience, making up a total of 20,000 sq/ft of new exhibit spaces. The project brings focus to the ongoing and intertwined relationships between the people of California and the environment. The project relies heavily on the first hand perspectives of California Native community members, Native Cultural materials, and contemporary Native art to connect traditional ecological knowledge and practices to current efforts to solve environmental issues facing Californians today.
